4 Bay Area U-pick farms have opened for the summer
A visit to a U-pick farm to pick peaches, berries and more is a beloved tradition. But like so many other things in life these days, that summer rite has become unpredictable. Coronavirus shutdown-prompted closures delayed the start of U-pick season, and some farms may not open at all this year. But these four Bay Area farms are open to the public now.
Cloverfield Organic Farm: Open noon to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Pick your own organic produce to take home by the basketful. 501 La Paloma Road, El Sobrante. https://www.cloverfieldfarm.us/
Blue House Farm: Strawberry U-Pick open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Strawberries are $5 a pound. Pay for what you pick. First come first serve; no reservations. 950 La Honda Road, San Gregorio. https://bluehousefarm.com/farmstand
Gabriel Farm: Open by appointment for U-pick beginning July 18. Normal weekend hours will likely resume in August. 3175 Sullivan Road, Sebastopol. https://www.gabrielfarm.com/updates
Webb Ranch: Open by appointment only, with more appointments added as more berries ripen. Expect to pay $4 for entry and $5.50 per pound of berries. 2720 Alpine Road, Portola Valley. http://www.webbranchinc.com/farmers_upick_straw.htm
