SF Beer Week launched last Friday, bringing the promise of more than 900 Bay Area beer events, from IPA fests to beer yoga, brew brunches and more. More than 125 brew-centric happenings are on deck today, including 11 beer dinners and more than 25 other food-pairings.
Today, do not miss the third annual Save the Whalez Sourfest ($75), which runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at Fort Mason. It’s put on by Almanac Beer Co. and features more than 30 breweries that make sour, funky and wild beers.
Magnolia’s Festival of Firkins begins at 11 a.m. and runs all day, featuring a dozen or more real ales. And The StandBy in South San Francisco is hosting the fifth annual Double IPA Festival, beginning at 4 p.m.
If you’re in the mood for something educational, catch the world premiere of a new documentary, “Brewers by the Bay,” which explores San Francisco’s beer history. The screening and panel discussion ($25) are at the California Historical Society from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
