• Chris Watts was taken into custody on Wednesday night after reportedly making the confession 
• The 33-year-old has not yet been charged but police are now looking for his wife and kids' bodies
• Watts told police he last saw his wife Shanann on Monday at 5.15am 
• He said she had just gotten home from a business trip and the pair had an 'emotional conversation' for four hours before he left for work 
• On Wednesday, he appeared on NBC's Today show pleading for them to return
• In a separate interview he said she told him she was taking the kids to a friend's house 
• Shanann is 15 weeks pregnant with the couple's third child
• She vanished along with their daughters Bella, four, and Celeste, three 
• Her car, phone, wallet, money and IDs were all found in the family home 
• Both Shanann and her husband had been arrested in North Carolina several times before moving to Colorado in 2012
