"Have Thine Own Way, Lord" is a Christian hymn with lyrics by Adelaide A. Pollard and music by George C. Stebbins. It was first published in 1907 in the "Northfield Hymnal with Alexander's Supplement". Later that year, it also appeared in two other popular hymnals, Ira Sankey's "Hallowed Hymns New and Old" and Sankey and Clement's "Best Endeavor Hymns".

In 1902, Adelaide A. Pollard was hoping to go to Africa as a missionary but found herself unable to raise the needed funds to make the journey. Greatly discouraged, she attended a prayer service one evening and as she sat there, she overheard an elderly woman say "It really doesn't matter what you do with us, Lord, just have your own way with our lives." The elderly woman inspired Pollard and she contemplated the story of the potter from Jeremiah 18:3 and, upon her return home that evening, wrote all four stanzas before retiring for the night. Five years later George Stebbins wrote a tune titled "Adelaide" to accompany the text.

1902년에 애들레이드 에이. 폴라드는 선교사로 아프리카에 가고 싶었지만 여행에 필요한 자금을 모을 수 없다는 사실을 깨달았다. 크게 낙담한 그녀는 어느 날 저녁 기도회에 참석했고 거기 앉아 있을 때 한 나이든 여성이 "주님, 우리에게 무엇을 하시든 상관없습니다. 우리 삶을 당신 마음대로 하시면 됩니다. "라고 말하는 것을 우연히 듣게 되었다. 나이든 여인은 폴라드에게 영감을 주었고 그녀는 예레미야 18장 3절에 나오는 도공의 이야기를 묵상했고, 그날 저녁 집에 돌아와서 밤에 잠자리에 들기 전에 네 개의 연을 모두 썼다. 5년 후 죠지 스테빈스가 가사와 함께 "애들레이드"라는 제목의 곡을 썼다.
