Hello, we are a local restaurant located inside of the casino M8trix in San Jose. We are a sushi bar that services the entire casino from 11 AM to 3 AM, 7 days a week. Our restaurant serves about 300-450 tickets a day. We are looking to add some great talented chefs to our company!
Unlike other sushi restaurants we only employee sushi chefs with experience. Therefore, we require our chefs to take the customer orders, clean the workstations, prep for the next shift, cook chicken, communicate with staff and management, handles stress in a positive way, able to work in a fast pace atmosphere. However, our restaurant offers a lower transaction of "tips" because many guests order through cocktail waitresses, we understand traditionally sushi chefs live for tips but we are combating that issue by offering a higher hourly rate and noting that is very possible for you to earn tips through the guests that directly order through the sushi bar. Job Requirments:
- we are open 365 days a year and expect you to work if your workday lands on a holiday
- must be at least the age of 21
- must have California food handlers permit

The positions we are hiring for include; head chefs, sous chefs, line cooks, prep chefs, loading manager, warehouse coordinator.
We are looking for people that have a passion for culinary arts!
Work experience:
- Has basic knowledge of how to make food in a shared kitchen
- Has basic knife skills
- Has had experience cooking food for others (Family parties, corporate events, church parties, commercial kitchen)
- We are looking for staff that is willing to learn and utilize those skills to make food at the standard of Michi.
Please understand that this is an "on-call" position, which means, we will send out a schedule at the beginning of every month and you can pick and choose the dates that you are available. Typically months February -November we have about 3-4 events per week.
Compensation: 1099/Starting pay at $18 an hour
Requirements:
- Must speak English or Korean fluently
- Must be at least the age of 18 years old
- Must have California food handlers permit
- Must be eligible to work in the USA
- Must be able to work for 6-14 hours per event
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs while moving, holding, carrying, twisting
- Must be PUNCTUAL
